@shawnwildermuth If we're going outside of consoles at large, my first experience that I remember was Space Cadet pinball on windows 95. Been in PC gaming for as long as I can remember.

@shawnwildermuth Sad that handhelds aren't on here, I owned a Game Boy long before I had a console. First one I played was 5, first one I owned was 10.

I also had 1 from a very young age, but never had anything to plug it into 😢

@randName Seems similar to the high level concept I was thinking of, yep!

@daniel Ah interesting! Good to know that's a supported thing.

@patak @daniel I think I'm going to end up writing my own Netlify-based variant of Mastodon at this point 😅

@daniel I'm not just following people though, I have a number of tags pinned. Content from servers that federate with mastodon.social appears there, even if I don't follow the individual posters.

My home page on Mastodon, with a large number of pinned tags.

@patak @daniel On the other hand, I'm a moderator on clocktower.social, I could hypothetically just move everything there, but am I cutting off my access to other kinds of content?

@patak @daniel Yeah, I've heard that too. It's just difficult for me because I'm trying to follow tabletop RPGs, trans/LGBT topics, writing, NASA/space exploration, and all the code/tech stuff. Being on a big instances gives me a big net, and I never have to look at the local feed (which is basically worthless here).

@patak @daniel I keep seeing people changing servers and wondering whether I should do the same. Mastodon.social seems to have resolved its performance issues, and I have a lot of interests I want to follow beyond just tech. What's your thought/feeling on moving instances at this point?

@shaneafsar I think it wouldn’t be too much effort, honestly. The larger issue may be allowing data to flow back into your Astro site. Not sure how the API works, but it’d be interesting to find out!

Feel like the ChatGPT would be good for generating writing prompts.

In the beginning, the pantheon of gods gathered together to create a new and wondrous creature. They debated and discussed, and finally they settled on the idea of creating ants.

The gods worked together, using their great powers to shape and form the ants. They gave them strong and agile bodies, capable of carrying great weights and moving quickly across the earth. They gave them sharp eyes, so that they could see even the smallest details. And they gave them a strong sense of community, so that they could work together and accomplish great things.

When the gods had finished their work, they looked upon the ants with great pride and satisfaction. The ants were a marvel to behold, and the gods knew that they had created something truly wonderful.

The gods then sent the ants out into the world, to live and thrive and flourish. And the ants obeyed, spreading out across the earth and establishing their colonies.

They worked hard and tirelessly, building their nests and gathering food. They fought bravely against their enemies, and they overcame many challenges and obstacles.

And as the years passed, the ants continued to thrive and grow. They became one of the most successful and resilient species on the earth, and they were a source of great pride to the pantheon of gods.

The gods watched over the ants, and they were pleased with their creation. And the ants, in turn, praised and worshiped the gods, grateful for the gifts that they had been given.

@iSeven07 I use it about once a month, and that mostly through the app. I don’t enjoy the site at all.

@kevinctofel Realky wish Google had been able to focus on Chromebooks more, I was super excited about the Pixelbook and then it went nowhere. They seem like such a great device for so many people.

A bit over a week later, I now have ~118 views from Mastodon, and 13 from Twitter. Despite the timeline not being algorithmic, I'm getting more views from Mastodon.

I also got 13 views from another site's blog post that referenced my post, so Twitter's showing here is really not great.

Again, I know that this is going to be biased since I'm writing about Mastodon, but I thought it was noteworthy.
